Calculator used by Scottish scientist to help NASA achieve first manned moon landing donated to National Museums Scotland

Ahead of the anniversary of the first moon landing, a mechanical calculating machine used by a Scottish scientist in support of the mission has been donated to National Museums Scotland.

Local treasures revealed ahead of Archaeology Day at the National Museum of Rural Life

The team from Treasure Trove Scotland are inviting members of the public to bring their finds to be assessed as part of a family-friendly Archaeology Day at the National Museum of Rural Life on Saturday 19 July.

National Museum of Flight uncovers Second World War secrets in anniversary year

New research has revealed details of two air assaults on East Fortune Airfield that were kept secret during the Second World War. The historic airfield in East Lothian is now home to the National Museum of Flight, which opened 50 years ago this month, in July 1975.
